Biography
Dr. Farzana Al-Maraghi is the Director of Scientific Research at the Higher Education Council, Kingdom of Bahrain. She is responsible for developing research policies and overlooking the implementation of national research strategies and regulations, specifically related to Higher Education Institutions. Prior to that, she was the Head of Academic Accreditation at the HEC, while she is currently a member of the Academic Accreditation Committee. She has 20 years of experience in the field of education, higher education and academic teaching and supervision, which includes teaching Mathematics, Research Methods and Applied Statistics. Dr. Al-Maraghi earned her PhD in Statistics and Operations Research in 2008 from Brunel University, UK. Her PhD research focused on Queueing Systems. She holds a Master’s in Mathematics Curricula Development, and a Bachelor’s in Mathematics, both with Excellence and honor classes, from the University of Bahrain. She was honored by the Prime Minister in 2001 and 2004. In 2012, she accomplished a professional certificate in Leadership from Said Business School, University of Oxford, UK. She is the first Bahraini woman IBM certified specialist for using the Statistical Product and Service Solutions Software. Dr. Al-Maraghi has several published articles in the area of statistics in international refereed journals and served as a referee as well. She presented papers as a keynote speaker in many international, regional, and local conferences in different areas including Higher Education. She has conducted many nation-wide researches mostly in the education sector. She was accredited by the British Psychological Society, talentQ and HayGroup as ability and personality tests user.
