College of Science and Engineering Collaborates With TAMUQ

Hamad Bin Khalifa University (HBKU) and Texas A&M University at Qatar (TAMUQ) have agreed to formalize their cooperation in undergraduate computer engineering education while developing new ways to collaborate, under the framework of a recently signed Memorandum of Agreement (MoA).

HBKU, through its College of Science and Engineering (CSE), has been collaborating with TAMUQ in delivering the Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Engineering at HBKU. The comprehensive computer engineering curriculum at HBKU currently incorporates coursework offered by TAMUQ.

Enhanced cooperation under the MoA aims to enrich the teaching-learning experience and the multiversity model. Undergraduate computer engineering students who are registered to complete their degree at HBKU will have the opportunity to enroll in courses offered by TAMUQ. Mutual educational benefits include access to capabilities that support high-quality education, including engineering labs and research facilities on their respective campuses in Education City.

Speaking about the collaboration, Dr. Mounir Hamdi, Founding Dean, CSE,  HBKU, said: “We are thrilled to continue our strong working relationship with Texas A&M University at Qatar. Our bachelor’s program is built on HBKU’s unique model of developing interdisciplinary programs that draw on the expert knowledge of our partner institutions alongside our own internationally recognized faculty.

“In the collaborative spirit of the unique educational multiversity that is Education City, HBKU students will have greater access to the expertise of a prestigious Qatar Foundation partner university. Our cooperation will add value to the education we deliver at HBKU and contribute to building the engineering skills that benefit the country.”

Reflecting their mutual institutional commitment to academic excellence, HBKU and TAMUQ students will receive continuous support to excel in their academic journeys through advice, career support or counseling services.

TAMUQ Dean, Dr. César Octavio Malavé, said: “At Texas A&M at Qatar, we are continuously finding ways to collaborate with other partner universities – especially those in QF’s Education City – in support of our efforts to educate exemplary engineering leaders in Qatar.
